Want to Make a Difference in Your Role? Join the Smart Water Revolution.
Water is a scarce resource — and the challenge of managing it is only growing. Australia is the driest
continent, and many other countries face the same water scarcity issues we do.
Taggle is one of the market leaders in smart water monitoring solutions — from remote IoT devices, through our own LPWAN radio network, to advanced water management software. Our technology is used by consumers, industries, and water utilities to collect data from meters and environmental sensors, helping communities and businesses use water more wisely.
We're looking for an energetic, experienced, and passionate team player to join our quest to better manage water — here in Australia and globally.
About the Role
As a Network Operations Engineer, you'll play a critical role in the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of Taggle Systems' nationwide low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) infrastructure. This role focuses on the performance and reliability of our radio network, which underpins our smart water metering and environmental telemetry solutions.
You'll join a small, specialist team working collaboratively across the business to ensure seamless network operations and continuous service improvements. This role suits someone who is technically strong, customer-focused, analytical, and proactive in maintaining and improving critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain the health and performance of Taggle's LPWAN and radio network infrastructure.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network faults, outages, and performance issues.
- Assist with the deployment, configuration, and testing of radio gateways and field telemetry devices.
- Analyse RF signal quality, coverage, and data transmission metrics to optimise network performance.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and DevOps teams to resolve integration and data flow issues.
- Produce reports for internal and external stakeholders, communicating clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, incident logs, and operational procedures.
- Support onboarding and integration of client smart metering systems.
- Participate proactively in incident response, root cause analysis, and communicate outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to automation, monitoring, and operational improvements to enhance reliability and scalability.
- Provide technical support and advice to internal teams and customers, including some pre-sales support.
- Travel to remote sites across Australia and New Zealand to perform installations, remediation, RF surveys, and network support activities.
- Must be available for travel to remote sites as needed for field operations and network support activities.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience in
network operations, radio communications, or IoT infrastructure
 .
- Familiarity with
 LPWAN technologies
(e.g., LoRaWAN, Sigfox) and RF principles.
- Hands-on experience with LPWAN technologies and RF systems is essential.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- A team player who can work autonomously and cross-functionally.
- Basic scripting or automation experience (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Demonstrated ability to write basic scripts for automation purposes.
- Understanding of telemetry systems and data acquisition workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Australian work rights are required for this position.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with smart metering, utilities, or environmental monitoring.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and DevOps tools.
- Knowledge of network protocols and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, SNMP).
- Experience in RF planning or signal propagation analysis.
Why Join Taggle?
- Make a real-world impact on water sustainability in Australia and beyond.
- Work with cutting-edge IoT and network technology.
- Be part of a collaborative, mission-driven team.
- Opportunities for travel, growth, and technical development.
