The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east.

Symal is part of the Eastern Freeway - Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Laing O’Rourke, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.

**The role**:
As our Alliance continues to grow, we are looking a** Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator** to join the Land, Interface, Planning & Environment team in a permanent role.

Reporting to the Stakeholder Interface Manager, you will support the team in coordinating the interface with key stakeholders (primarily local Government Authorities), ensuring that they are consulted appropriately throughout the life of the project.

You will assist/lead the resolution of issues relating to key stakeholders to ensure there are mínimal impacts to the key Project deliverables, as well as working closely with Project disciples primarily Design, Construction, Communications, Environment and Traffic.

**Your every day**:

- Assist the Stakeholder Interface Manager in ensuring stakeholder interfaces are managed in a timely manner, consistent with the overall project program and budget;
- Build relationships with and engage/consult with following key stakeholders:

- Local Government Authorities (Boroondara, Manningham, Whitehorse)
- Adjacent Interfacing Government projects
- Department of Transport & Planning
- Facilitate stakeholder design reviews, coordinate workshops and assist in closeout of stakeholder feedback;
- Assist the Stakeholder Interface Manager in ensuring stakeholder interface requirements and milestones are clearly communicated to the project team, including external stakeholders, direct stakeholders and relevant parties;
- Support the delivery team in understanding and addressing key stakeholder concerns in relation to construction methodologies and access arrangements;
- Support the traffic team in obtaining necessary traffic approvals from the relevant Local Government Authority. Regularly engage with Major Road Projects Victoria to ensure that relevant stakeholder updates and issues are being raised, and escalated where required
- Work closely with Alliance disciplines, including design and construction teams, to identify and notify of possible stakeholder interface issues and risks that have the potential to impact project key deliverables, whilst ensuring best for project outcomes are being reached; Participate in and minute Stakeholder Coordination meetings, provide key information and inputs as required, and ensure actions arising from the meeting are being followed through;
- Maintain detailed records of stakeholder interactions and produce regular progress reports for internal and external distribution;
- Prepare periodical reporting and documentation required to inform relevant stakeholders of key project information; and
- Maintain a high level of integration with relevant Alliance disciplines and personnel to promote proactive identification of stakeholders issues and flow of information.

**Who are you?**
- More than 5 years’ experience in an Interface, Stakeholder Engagement or Communications role, managing key relationships and deliverables
- Experience in an interface role for a major infrastructure, road or rail project working with Government Authorities preferred but not essential
- Strong communicator both written and verbal, with the ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with various stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability of proactively identifying and resolving stakeholder interface issues
- Stakeholder management experience of various bodies eg. Councils, Government departments and adjacent interfacing projects
- Ability to travel to and work from site offices in the eastern suburbs
- Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Residency, as this is a permanent role
