Marymead CatholicCare are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and experienced Child, Youth & Family Specialist to work in the Safer Youth Response Service (SYRS). SYRS is the first of its kind in the ACT, designed to meet an existing service gap now that the Raising of the Minimum Age of Criminal Responsibility (MACR) has been introduced.

The Role

The aim of the SYRS is to divert Children and Young People, aged 10 to 14 years, with a priority to those aged 12, away from the Justice System and into meaningful targeted and community-based supports. These supports include access to short-term (up to 48 hours) brokered crisis accommodation if required, case coordination, ongoing intensive case management, therapeutic and pro-social activities, and referrals based on the needs of the young person and their family. We envisage the SYRS Child, Youth & Family Specialist role will evolve and develop throughout the course of the pilot, and will include elements of occasional afterhours crisis response, case coordination, and case management. Ideal person

**The ideal person we are looking for has**:
Relevant Tertiary qualifications and experience in working with children and young people.
Demonstrated experience working with children, young people, and their families/ kinship/carers in frontline service delivery.
Knowledge and understanding of the key issues experienced by children, young people families/ kinship/carers engaging with harmful/risk taking behaviours.
Engagement with children, young people, and families/ kinship/carers through early intervention strategies and self-determination
Develop, and support relationships with the community service sector to support referrals for children, young people, and their families/ kinship/carers.
Hold a current drivers’ licence, a current Working with Vulnerable People card and be willing to undergo a police check.

You will also be required to undergo a National Police Check. To be considered for this role you will be also required to hold:
a current driver’s license, and
a Working with Vulnerable People Card [Only needed for ACT Staff]
