The role Reporting to the Director of Midwifery, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating midwifery activities within a specified portfolio, while contributing to strategic systems management and policy development to achieve best practice outcomes. Your demonstrated capacity to develop and implement strategies will be crucial in effectively managing the gaps and risks associated with state-wide midwifery professional governance and practice. This will involve monitoring and reviewing state and national guidelines, as well as regulatory and legislative requirements. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in fostering the professional capacity of midwives across Queensland Health through the development of mentorship programs and relevant professional credentialing initiatives.
You will be responsible for preparing high-level project documentation, reports, briefs, and correspondence to internal and external key stakeholders. Your exceptional ethical decision-making skills and interpersonal abilities will be evident as you navigate various levels of engagement, demonstrating a proven history in negotiation and influencing.
The successful personTo excel in this role, you should possess a proven history in quality and safety, midwifery innovation and governance, health management, policy development, and/or professional education, research and training. Your expertise in these areas will enable you to effectively distil insights and intelligence from clinical and professional stakeholders, actively contributing to state-wide priorities.
Furthermore, you should have exceptional multitasking abilities and the skill to prioritize complex issues within a highly visible and politically sensitive sector. You should be comfortable reporting to the Director of Midwifery andas required other departmental leaders, including the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, on midwifery and maternity professional matters. Your demonstrated capacity to develop high-level reports, briefs, and strategic responses as needed will be critical to success in this role.
