Key Accountabilities
- Manage operations of the team, including work allocation and practices, and production of quality communication materials that meet internal and external client and stakeholder needs
- Manage production and delivery of communication strategies, projects and initiatives to support achievement of the organisation's operational objectives
- Ensure that communication materials, stakeholder engagement activities and deliverables like safety alerts are produced effectively, in a timely manner and according to best practice, with outcomes that align to RSHQ's strategic objectives and operational priorities
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the agency and government with stakeholders including the Minister for Resources, Department of Resources, DAF, the Commissioner's office, RSHQ's CEO and senior executives, media and the community
- Provide high-level, strategic advice in relation to media and emerging issues, to support a timely, coordinated agency response which manages risk to the organisation
- Oversee the strategic development and day to day management of RSHQ's intranet and websites, coordinate liaison with other government agencies to ensure their efficient operation and upkeep, and escalate matters to the Director as required
- Develop, coordinate and review briefing notes, hot issue briefs, media releases and correspondence as required
- Monitor and manage media inquiries and issues and maintain the media inbox, tracking register and media monitoring functions
- Develop the annual communications team strategy and calendar for internal and external activities
- Identify and recommend relevant communication tools and channels to support business priorities
- Ongoing consultation and review with relevant stakeholders and communities of practice to ensure continuous improvement and improve the quality of programs in accordance with evaluation findings.
- Proactive Leadership, addressing all aspects of staff performance management, developing staff, ethical behaviour and decision-making.
