Disability Support Worker

**Job description**
Are you an enthusiastic, energetic and experienced Disability Support Worker, with a genuine passion for helping others in your community? Inclusive Support Service is a client-focused NDIS Registered Provider who believe in providing a standard of care that we would want for our own families We are currently looking to expand our team of highly-skilled, committed, and reliable Disability Support Workers in the following areas:
- Moreton Bay (including North Lakes, Narangba, Petrie, Deception Bay, Kallangur, Burpengary).
**Duties**:
Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
- Personal Care assistance, such as toileting, showering, grooming, dressing and assistance with medication;
- Domestic Duties, including general household cleaning/ tidying and meal preparation;
- Monitoring the well-being of the clients and reporting/ documenting their progress;
- Empowering participants to set and achieve their personal and professional goals;
- Encouraging clients to develop independence in their everyday lives, both in the home and out in the community;
- Encouraging clients to participate/progress in their desired educational, vocational, and well-being programmes;
- Transporting clients to appointments (e.g. medical, therapeutic, social, grocery shopping, etc.);
- Supporting clients to establish and maintain social relationships by participating in recreational activities and facilitating community inclusion;
- Fostering positive relationships with clients and stakeholders;

- Proactive and client-focused - Taking time to familiarize yourself with the client’s needs and goals; the ability to form a step-by-step plan towards achieving clients’ goals and seeing it through in practice;
- Positive and engaging - Creating a positive environment for your clients by encouraging and empowering them in their daily lives;
- Flexibility - willing to work a combination of shifts which may include short (2hr) and long (up to 10 hour) shifts, weekends, sleepovers / active overnights;
- Reliability - Being dependable and punctual, and demonstrating a commitment to the client and the company alike;
- Professional Integrity - Demonstrating transparency and trustworthiness;
- Accountability - The ability to self-reflect, accept feedback, and the desire to work towards better practice;
- Effective communication - Utilizing verbal, written, and active listening skills with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders;
- Being a team player - Developing good working relationships and participating in team meetings.
**Essential**:
- Cert III or above in Individual Support, Community Services or similar
- Paid Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- NDIS Worker Orientation certificate
- Open QLD Driver’s License; own vehicle with fully comprehensive car insurance and registration
- Smartphone with internet access
- Covid-19 vaccinated, in accordance with current state-mandated vaccination requirements for staff working in disability accommodation
- Valid working visa (where applicable)
**Preferred**:
- Min. 2 years’ industry experience. Must be comfortable and confident with personal care and in the use of mobility aids, wheelchairs, shower chair, manual / electric hoist
- Experience supporting clients with intellectual care needs (desirable)
- Experience supporting clients with mental health care needs (desirable)
