To deliver the transition and our Purpose and Vision, Santos has a regional operating model with a strong local focus. The company’s operating structure comprises three regional business units focused on enabling and executing corporate strategy. Two functional divisions - Santos Energy Solutions and Santos Upstream Gas and Liquids - are accountable for global portfolio management and strategy.
**About the Role**
Based at our Perth offices in St Georges Terrace, the position will lead Health Safety and Environment, inclusive of cultural heritage and regulatory approvals, for the WA NA TL Regional Business Unit.
This position reports to the EVP WA, NA & TL and has a close connection to Santos’ functional HSE leaders. Pivotal to the success of this role is the development and execution of Santos’ strategic vision for HSE across WA, NA and Timor Leste, that centres upon preventing harm, minimising risks, meeting compliance and regulatory obligations and promoting enduring and respectful relationships with the communities we operate in. This incorporates the development of fit for purpose frameworks, resources, capability, governance and assurance, performance evaluation, and continuous improvement.
**Key accountabilities include**:
- Lead the HSE WA NA TL team and provide HSE vision, direction, goals, objectives, expertise, and support to achieve the organisations HSE goals.
- Actively engage with organisational senior leaders to understand business needs, promote HSE and drive the most effective outcomes.
- Develop and execute the HSE WA NA TL strategy aligned with the overall organisational HSE strategy, for improving HSE performance and achieving HSE vision and goals.
- Engage and collaborate with the organisational HSE division on HSE strategy, systems, programs and initiatives.
- Lead, manage, mentor, and develop HSE team members to successfully deliver on HSE strategy, objectives, and improvements.
- In alignment with organisational approaches, lead the establishment, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of HSE regulatory, systems and frameworks for WA, NA TL.
- Provide guidance and advice to Santos leadership on all matters relating to environmental and cultural heritage approvals and regulatory engagement.
- Lead and drive exceptional performance through fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture.
- Collaborate with and influence regulators, industry groups and other external stakeholders to drive positive outcomes for the organisation.
- Remain current and informed on industry standards, HSE legislative developments, technology advancements, innovations and lessons learnt, and facilitate adoption where relevant.
- Evaluate, analyse and report on HSE to identify trends, risks and develop strategies to improve performance.
- Embody our Always Safe value and actively contribute to creating positive and leading health and safety maturity consistency with our vision, policies, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS), Santos Delegation of Authority (DOA) and Santos Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.
**About You**
The successful applicant will be a degree qualified in Health Safety and Environment, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Occupational Hygiene or other related discipline.
You will demonstrate work/industry knowledge of HSE legislation, risk management, and compliance requirements including HSE state, national and international regulatory regimes. Chartered industry professional membership along with Project management qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
In addition, you will have significant proven experience in a senior management role (leading teams of professionals) along with a track record of driving high performance organisation outcomes through business partnering with key stakeholders.
