**About the Role**:
You will provide leadership, coaching, and expert advice to WA Major Projects and key stakeholders on all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) matters. You will ensure that risks with HSE impacts are effectively managed through project Studies phases and into Execution WA Major Projects will develop and deliver projects greater than $250m, largely supporting our mines, infrastructure and supporting facilities across our Iron Ore and Nickel West Assets.

The role will include supporting analysis of HSE performance data to identify improvement opportunities to be captured in Project development and focus on HSE prevention through design. There is an expectation that the incumbent will be highly independent and embedded within the Major Projects teams and work along with Project Managers to deliver HSE outcomes in an integrated Business Partnership model.

This position is based in Perth on a Mon - Fri roster, with occasional travel to our sites. Flexible work options will be considered.

**In this role you will**:

- Build capability within WA Major Projects leaders to enable them to create the desired health, safety and environment culture, and enact their HSE risk management and compliance requirements
- Provide HSE input to the design and establishment of HSE standards, procedures and systems for WA Major Projects within the Minerals Australia Projects Framework and Internal Standard.
- Review project design specification to ensure HSE risks and controls are identified and captured with Project design.
- Support with the embedment of the BHP field leadership program throughout the WA Major Projects portfolio
- Deliver coaching for line management on the quality and effectiveness of HSE risk assessments, event investigations and corrective actions.
- Ensure provision of technical expertise and deliverables of environment, health, hygiene and safety requirements to WA Major Projects and key contractor partner leaders
- Provide leadership, support and technical guidance including HSE resource planning to Project Development teams.
- Develop and deliver relevant HSE content for upskilling of project owner’s teams and contractor personnel.
- Facilitate the communication between workgroups to ensure consistency in HSE systems, processes, procedures and goals.

**About You**:
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Tertiary degree in relevant field (e.g. engineering, science, risk, other) and relevant HSE focused design experience.
- Previous relevant industry experience (Major Capital Projects, Minerals Processing/Industrial Construction/Oil and Gas).
- Strong communication and engagement skills, ability to adapt to suit target audience.
- Experience with HSE in design process and workshops (desirable)
- Demonstrated ability to reliably deliver team results and meet deadlines.
- Ability to identify and lead complex change through vision setting and the effective execution of change management processes.
- Ability to engage and work effectively with both senior internal and external stakeholders. Influence diverse teams.
- Strong acumen for HSE data analytics and business intelligence platforms.
- Understanding of Western Australian H&S legislation.
- Working knowledge of regulatory HSE policies and procedures and their implementation in the mining and processing sector.
