**THE ROLE**
The Deputy Secretary, Fairer Victoria, Engagement and Coordination leads a dynamic division that develops and develops policy, delivers high-profile communications and engagement to both the public and stakeholders, delivers key programs, administers major grant programs, and leads on strategic planning, coordination and intergovernmental engagement for the Fairer Victoria, Engagement and Coordination division and broader Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (department). This role will navigate unique opportunities, challenges and risks in a complex department with a whole-of-government lens. It will manage complex, fast moving and unexpected situations, including crisis management, through working across the department's structure, leadership and operating environment.Thriving in a fast-paced and complex environment, the Deputy Secretary connects and collaborates with all parts of the department executive cohort and government to lead cross-portfolio initiatives, responses and advice to Ministers, the Secretary, Executive Board and other senior executives.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE**
- Manage and support Executive Directors and Directors to scan, assess and critically analyse all aspects of the environment to lead proactive and reactive departmental strategies and actions.
- Lead a team of high performing staff to deliver whole-of-department media, communications, policy, programs, grants management and reporting requirements that build inclusive communities and work to ensure diverse voices are heard.
- Provide strategic, evidence-based advice and recommendations and act as an authoritative source of critical advice within the department, including for the Executive Board, on the translation of government priorities and reform objectives into the department's strategic planning processes.
