**THE ROLE**

The Principal Consultant, Employee Relations will provide a hands-on, solution-focused approach to resolving complex and confidential employee relations matters and taking an advanced role in identifying emerging employee relations (ER) risks and actively intervening to promote positive ER outcomes for the department, including representing the department at the Fair Work Commission.

This position is responsible for developing significant state-wide employment related policy, including preparing and coordinating detailed and complex reports and Ministerial briefings, responding to correspondence, undertaking research and leading employment-related projects.

This position is responsible for developing and reviewing HR policies and providing policy advice and support to the people and culture teams across the department with complex and confidential employee relations issues.

The role will also be required to advocate in the Fair Work Commission and provide high level strategic advice to the divisions and program areas particularly around the implementation of organisational change.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE**
- Provide strategic input to the interpretation of government policies, legislation and employee relations initiatives including the review, development and implementation of policies and procedures designed to implement industrial agreements and legislation.
- Provide expert and strategic advice as required on a broad range of ER issues and other major risk factors impacting on the achievement of effective industrial relations outcomes.
- Lead and/or contribute to the management of enterprise bargaining activities including undertaking preparatory research, developing stances for the IR agenda and liaison across the department on ER matters.
