**About the role**:
We are looking for an Energy Analyst to join our Merchant Energy analytical team based in Sydney. Reporting to the Data & Analytics Solutions Lead, the role is responsible for high-quality analysis, forecasting and development of data science for our east coast wholesale portfolio and markets. The Energy Analyst will also work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop tools and models which support decision making for commercial position and profitability across gas, electricity, and environmental portfolio.

**Duties**:

- Minimum 3 years of analytics experience delivering forecasting and analysis
- Demonstrated experience in delivering outcomes through cross functional collaboration
- Experience with SQL, advanced use of MS Excel, Power Query
- Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Preparation of presentations and analysis to communicate opportunities, including recommendations which are distributed to senior management

**Skills and experience**:

- Experience working in a trading function in the Australian energy markets
- Experience with demand forecasting techniques
- Experience with analytics automation process and familiar with scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Bash)
- Experience with Databricks Lakehouse platform, Microsoft Azure Logic Apps, Power Automation
- Strong knowledge of and experience with data science concepts and programming language python

Strong analytical skills and the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders are essential to succeed in this position. You will play an integral part of the team by providing market analysis and insight into Australian energy markets which is used to provide key inputs into strategy, trading, and budgeting decisions.
