**About the role**

As the Head of Governance - Operations reporting into the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead first line of defence obligations for Life and Investments and General Insurance in Australia and New Zealand. Teams reporting into you include Assurance, Operational Risk & Business Resilience, Dispute Resolution and Quality Assurance. You will drive the delivery of our first line of defence governance framework, compliance, risk, and governance culture tasks and accountabilities, through effective leadership, direction, and oversight of this key business area.

Under our risk and governance framework of “Be Courageous, Be Curious and Be Responsible”, you will challenge the status quo, drive continuous improvement, influence risk culture, and lead a deep understanding of why risk and governance matters.

**Important to your success**
- Experience in a similar role within insurance, covering either first or second line risk, compliance, and governance, including mature understanding of roles and responsibilities of the three lines of defence, governance frameworks, regulatory requirements and local regulators
- Proof points of leading strategy, challenging the status quo, driving change
- Strong people leadership, including leading a department and managers of managers.
- Ability to influence across an array of internal and external stakeholders
