**The Opportunity**:
Operating within Minda’s Client Safety & Quality Improvement Business Unit, the **Authorised Program Lead** role encompasses Restrictive Practice authorisation and implementation, Clinical and Client Safety, Incident Management & Quality Improvement.
The role will provide leadership to the team undertaking authorisation of Regulated Restrictive Practices prescribed in Behavior Support Plans in compliance with the required State and Federal legislation.
In this role you will be responsible for providing oversight to the Authorised Program Team to ensure compliance with the NDIS Quality & Safeguarding Commission practice standards specifically in relation to the South Australian _Disability Inclusion (Restrictive Practices - NDIS) Regulations 2021._This role works in partnership with the manager of Minda’s Authorised Reporting Team. This may include management of this team, as directed by the General Manager, Client Safety & Quality Improvement. Undertaking duties as required to ensure both the Authorised Reporting and the Authorised Program team’s, meet all required KPI’s and strategic outputs. This is a part time opportunity, at 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE).
The Authorised Program Lead will be expected to have a sound understanding and relevant experience of behaviour support practices, as they will be required to maintain registration with the Department for Human Services as an Authorised Program Officer.
**You will be responsible for**:
- Providing expert advice and guidance to staff and practitioners in relation to behaviour support and restrictive practices.
- Case consultation and technical input on complex cases, ensuring best practice approaches to the implementation of restrictive practices.
- Directly lead, coordinate and supervise team members in the management and monitoring of authorisation processes and changes to systems.
- Support the Team to ensure compliance with relevant State and Federal Legislation in respect to Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices.
- Take responsibility for own and/or team’s performance by setting clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against goals, and ensuring feedback and addressing performance problems and issues promptly.
- Delivering all services with a focus on client outcomes and quality services, ensuring standards of excellence are achieved and maintained.
- Working collaboratively with all client’s families, teams, and external stakeholders to facilitate positive outcomes for people requiring highly complex, individual support services.
- Ensure the effective communication within the team is maintained at all times and address any conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
- Build the expertise of the community services practitioners across Minda, through training and professional development initiatives.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all managers across Minda and with external stakeholders.
- Deliver services that meet all relevant performance and outcome indicators.
- Ensure all accreditation and compliance standards are met in respect to the authorisation of RP’s.
**To be successful in this role you will have**:
- Tertiary qualifications relevant to the functions of an Authorised Program Officer (i.e., Allied Health, Nursing, Education, or a Disability-specific or Behaviour-specific discipline). (Essential)
- The incumbent is required to maintain registration with the Department for Human Services as an Authorised Program Officer. (Essential)
- Five or more years’ experience working in a human service field such as Disability, Aged Care or Mental Health with significant experience working with people with disabilities including knowledge of a broad range of disability types, complex behaviour, and associated issues.
- Extensive experience supporting clients and their support networks in respect to addressing complex behaviours.
- Extensive experience and knowledge in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of behaviour interventions and supports.
- An understanding of the current legislative requirements relevant to behaviour support and restrictive practices.
- NDIS Workers Screening Clearance (Additional screening/clearances may be required to work in specific areas)
- Current, valid and unrestricted South Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Full Covid-19 vaccination, two doses and a booster of a TGA
