Regional Cultural Heritage Coordinator

It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. One of the applicants referees should be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience to meet the cultural capability criteria. This person may be a community member, supervisor or work colleague. An applicant's confirmation as a First Nations Australian does not exempt them from providing a cultural reference.
Your key responsibilities
- Provide specialised training, expertise, advice and policy input to regional government officers, including departmental officers, the Director-General and the Minister, on all aspects of cultural heritage legislation and administration. Managing the implementation of policy and legislation, and any issues arising from the implementation of the Cultural Heritage Acts. Liaise with other agencies in relation to legislative policy matters pertaining to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage. Contribute to the preparation of ministerial correspondence, briefing notes and cabinet submissions relating to the development, review and/or administration of cultural heritage legislation and related policy issues. Provide operational advice to government and non-government stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and local government in relation to all aspects of the Cultural Heritage Acts. Liaise with stakeholders undertaking cultural heritage studies for inclusion in the Cultural Heritage Register. Represent the department and the Queensland Government at external forums and on inter-agency and inter-jurisdictional working parties. Exercise delegated authority under the legislation as required.
