It provides policing throughout Australia in relation to the prevention and detection of crimes against the Commonwealth, its laws and integrity, and community police services to the Community of the ACT.

Role Summary

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Communication Officers - Band 3 and Band 4.

As communications professionals at the AFP, you will develop, implement and evaluate agreed program deliverables, to help achieve corporate goals and support business areas with their communication requirements.

The communications capability at the AFP is made up of two distinct units:
The Strategic Communications unit responsible for recruitment marketing, brand, community strategy development, implementation and evaluation for AFP business areas and commands.

These units work with AFP business areas and commands to establish and deliver communication needs, ranging from one-off initiatives requiring planning and promotion, to large scale programs of work requiring comprehensive marketing and communication strategies with multi-channel delivery over a longer period.

They form part of the broader Communications and Customs branch and as such, you will play a pivotal role in contributing to a positive workplace culture through collaboration with colleagues, maintaining a results focus for broader team success, and respecting and valuing with different perspectives and talents of colleagues, and internal and external stakeholders.

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

Role Description & Responsibilities

We’re looking for motivated and innovative thinkers who are passionate about communications and want to contribute and help raise awareness, drive behavioural change and support the business objectives of the AFP.

**In these roles, you are required to**:
engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand the communications needs and target audience(s)
assist in the development of communication strategies, articulating contemporary and relevant communications solutions to drive desired behavioural change and positively contribute to the AFP’s broader reputation
contribute towards the development and implementation of initiatives to raise the AFP profile to make it a household brand and an employer of choice
work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment
be able to balance work to support multiple business areas and teams

Essential Requirements

Relevant qualifications, knowledge and/or experience in communications and/or marketing
Ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 security clearance
Good communication and organisational skills
Team player with an ability to be flexible and dynamic in response to changing business or administrative priorities
Ability to cultivate productive and effective working relationships

Desirable Requirements

Project management
Stakeholder relations
Experience in contemporary marketing and communications disciplines
Change management
