The Business Intelligence Specialist is responsible for ensuring the core Digital and Direct Customer Experience Reporting suite (across all contact centres, website, mobile, app and customer experience touchpoints) is being used to the best effect and for managing the support, maintenance, enhancement, training and performance functions related to the product. Encompassed within this role will be managing all users of the customer data across the broader Group (including all of Customer, Revenue Management, Marketing and Sales).

The role will also be responsible for driving the development of the broader Digital Direct and Customer Experience Data Strategy which will encompass development of an underlying technical solution to enable broader usage of the data across the Qantas Group. The role will require leadership across the following: SME knowledge, business intelligence, advanced analytics, data strategy, project management, stakeholder management, vendor management, and issue and problem resolution to ensure that the investment in the Group’s Digital Direct data driven strategies and associated systems and processes are being realised. The Business Intelligence Specialist will provide core SME knowledge within the business intelligence core systems and associated processes.

The individual will be a thought leader in critical aspects of Business Intelligence and Data with the ability to influence senior leadership stakeholders. The individual should be articulate and have outstanding communication skills. Ability to present data and analysis clearly to all levels of the organisation with strong business acumen, and superior written, verbal and presentation skills. Passion to deliver the benefits that data driven decision-making can bring to an organisation is essential. Overseeing complex analysis while prioritising multiple projects and requests and mentoring senior analysts is key to this role.

You’ll have
- 5+ years of experience in a similar function
- Involved in the delivery of large-scale data and analytics programs across multiple business units in complex matrix organisations
- Experience in driving results in a fast-paced and continually changing environment
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate, contribute and create effective teamwork across traditional organisational boundaries
- Tertiary level education in a relevant discipline, e.g. Computer Science or Economics or Commerce; Master’s degree preferred
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment with little direction; can drive an initiative from beginning to end with little or no supervision
- Can work individually and in a team; ability to lead or work on multiple projects as necessary
- Demonstrated aptitude for logical analysis, problem identification, and problem solving
- Highly experienced with database retrieval languages such as SQL and solid knowledge of computer software, including Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI
- Demonstrated recent knowledge and experience in gathering requirements, project delivery, delivery of releases / upgrades to users and providing support to end users
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence decision-making at a senior level with customers and internal colleagues.
- Sound business judgment supported ability able to evaluate impact of change at a detailed level and confidence in making decisions
- Proven analytical ability (including trend analysis) and strong numerical ability involving manipulation of data.
