**About the Assignment**

The Santos Upstream PNG Operations Division has responsibility for safe, reliable and sustainable production and efficient operations of our operated and non-operated reserves in PNG, including regulatory approvals, reporting, JV interfaces and relations with the communities and landowner leaders in our operational footprint.

The PNG Operations Division is fully enabled, with clear ownership and accountability of stakeholder management, people and culture, business performance and project delivery, serviced by the Centre.

Within the PNG Operations Division, the PNG Development and Projects department supports the Project Delivery Process (PDP) for pre-FEED stage Major Capital Projects and all project phases for smaller to medium size projects.

This Project Services group centrally supports the PNG project portfolio with this role largely dedicated to supporting a Senior Project Manager responsible for a suite of Brownfield projects including Earthquake Return to Service (EQRTS), Central Processing Facility (CPF) Produced Water and key infrastructure projects.

**Tasks include**:

- Work closely with the Senior Project Manager and other Project Management Team (PMT) members, Contractors, and key stakeholders, to implement Project Controls services for the project;
- Advise the Senior Project Manager of areas of actual or potential problems, including recommendations to alleviate problems;
- Provide appropriate leadership and supervision of project controls staff and contractors; and,
- Subject matter expert and primary contact for all project controls matters.

**General Project Controls**
- Develop project detail budgets from TIC estimates;
- Manage the project input into the periodic budget processes with PNG Operations Division;
- Monitoring, analysis and reporting of costs vs. budget, including preparation of trends and forecasts;
- Flag unfavourable trends in a timely manner so that project management have an opportunity to take corrective action to influence the project outcome;
- Identify cost-overrun risks and their root cause and recommend mitigations;
- Ensure cost control processes, procedures and tools are understood within the project team;
- Ensure financial compliance with Santos’ contractual obligations in relation to the project (accruals integrity, cash calling, budget approvals, reporting, etc.);
- Maintain commercial awareness of contract packages through understanding of awarded work scope, payment terms, commercial conditions, potential variations, project strategies and interfaces with other contracts;
- Ensure all finance related administrative issues are raised and actioned in a timely manner;
- Perform health checks and audits of Contractor cost reporting;
- Work with Contractors to oversee development of cost estimates and associated deliverables (e.g., cost estimate basis) at each phase of the project;
- Lead the preparation of the Project Monthly Report by compiling information from disparate sources, including EPC Contractors as well as interpretation and analysis of reports produced by others; and,
- Provide support for development of various management presentations.

**This assignment is initially offered for 12 months, engaged via Chandler Macleod.**

**Location for this assignment is Brisbane working full-time office hours**

**About You**
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management or related discipline;
- Familiarity with project controls software including cost control and scheduling packages.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in major capital project execution;
- Exposure to extractive industries with oil and gas experience considered a distinct advantage;
- Prior experience in a Project Controls leadership position;
- Knowledge of and experience with multi-disciplinary teams, including experience of managing FEED, EPC, EPCM Contractors, in lump sum, unit rate, reimbursable contracting environments.
