Pacific Meat Sales is a family-owned business operating for over 25 years. Specializing in high-quality meat sales to a domestic and export market. Our focus is on Pork, Beef and Veal, which is supplied through 5 different brands.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Quality Assurance Officer to join our team in Thomastown. The role will report directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
**Key areas of responsibilities**
- **Testing**: Conducting various tests on new software products to ensure that they meet the required standards and specifications. This includes both automated and manual testing.
- **Documentation**: Creating and maintaining detailed, clear, and precise documentation for quality assurance procedures, standards, and specifications.
- **Process Improvement**: Continually improving testing processes and strategies based on testing results and feedback from development teams.
- **Quality Training**: Providing training and support to production teams on quality control processes.
- **Defect Tracking**: Identifying, documenting, and reporting defects and inconsistencies in the performance of new or existing software.
- **Compliance Monitoring**: Ensuring all software products and processes meet the necessary local, national, and international regulatory standards.
- **Collaboration and Communication**: Working closely with development teams to improve product quality through detailed feedback and reports.
**Daily Tasks**:
- Daily monitoring and assessing of ingredients and meat products at delivery, processing and storage to ensure its consistent and comply with the specification
- Pre-operations checks are conducted when starting at 5:30 am daily
- Complete paperwork accurately in real-time effectively
- Ensure all products are produced within product specifications and customers’ requirements
- Check daily Cut specification of meat products prior to packaging
- Effectively liaises with the production manager and supervisor for any non-conformances
- Collect random samples from production to analyze or evaluate the samples to make sure they meet specifications
- Conduct CL testing, Air Analysis and Product sensory evaluation of product on real-time and effectively liaise with production
- Ensure Food Safety, Food Quality and Packaging are within specifications
- Follow the site Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ensure all are following the correct GMP policy
- Follow the site Good Hygiene Practices (GHP) and ensure all are following the correct GHP policies
- Conduct Line clearance during product changeover
- Monitor the Chiller storage space and ensure the FIFO or FEFO (first expiring - first out) rotation principle is used
- Before unloading materials, inspect the condition of the trailer. If it doesn’t meet standards, reject the load
- After unloading, inspect the condition of the trailer and materials
- Monitor the cleaning team to ensure they are following the correct procedures
- Export requirement experience, however, will train on the job
- High attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and process excellent time management
- Ability to participate in internal audits and pre-requisite programs within QMS
**Skills required**
- Experienced in a similar Quality Assurance (QA) role preferably in the Meat Industry;
- Excellent time management skills;
- Experience in the food industry will be an advantage;
- Familiar with Food Safety - HACCP;
- Good Problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work without supervision and work in a team environment
- Applicants must process full and permanent work rights
- Applicants with Aus-Meat Certificates will be highly regarded
