Are you currently studying law and seeking a career development opportunity? We currently have a 6 month position available within our Legal Service team for a Legislative Officer.
The Legislative Officer provides support to carry out the VBA's functions under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2002.
You will work closely with the Senior Legislative Advisor in the provision of legislative advice which will contribute to the ongoing development, review and amendment of primary and subordinate legislation (including the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2002 and associated regulations). You will undertake research, initiate recommendations, draft responses, reporting and coordinating projects.

**What we are looking for**:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports, briefings, memoranda and recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience learning or working in a legal, policy, legislative or regulatory development role.
- Current study in the field of law or post graduate qualifications is highly regarded as this role will provide relevant experience to your chosen area of study.
- Knowledge of and experience with the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2002 and associated regulations will be advantageous however an enthusiasm to learn is most important.
