Position overview
The VBA has 2 exciting opportunities within the compliance and enforcement team for experienced Investigation Officers to join our plumbing stream for 12 months fixed term.
Working within the broader Investigations Unit, The Investigations Officer is responsible for assessing and investigating referrals from a range of internal and external sources.
The role of the Investigations Officer is to engage in a range of activities aligned to VBA compliance and enforcement (C&E) to identify breaches of legislation, regulations and professional standards.
The role of Investigations Officer is responsible for;
- Undertaking investigations involving alleged breaches of the legislation administered by the Victorian Building Authority,
- Conducting interviews, preparing reports and detailed briefs of evidence, and participating in court proceedings,
- Providing recommendations, advice and information to the building and plumbing industry.

Who we are looking for;
- you will be a qualified licence plumber in all classes of plumbing work under Part 12A of the Building Act 1993.
- demonstrate experience in a compliance or regulatory environment undertaking investigations using a legislative framework,
- knowledge of the building industry regulatory framework, regulations and standards in Victoria.
- required to hold Certificate IV in Government Investigations, or equivalent
- a self-starter who can drive their own work to meet the objectives of the role
- a team oriented person who enjoys working collaboratively
