**_About the role_**

The administrative officer is responsible for the provision of efficient and effective administrative support for all areas within Patient Services as required and rostered on a 7 day per week 24 hour roster in Emergency Reception, Information Desk, Urgent Admissions, Elective Bookings and Switchboard roles. Providing a quality service to patients, clinical staff and the public to assist with enquiries, admissions, medical records and all job requirements in an accurate and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
- Participate in and support the Hospital’s Quality Improvement and Accreditation programmes.
- Demonstrated an understanding of risk management processes and systems.
- Maintains confidentiality in matters related to the patient staff and the hospital.
- Proficient use of MS Outlook for professional communication between all PSD team members and the wider Calvary network and to address all items required.
- Timely and accurate ED Registrations, Admissions, Discharges and Transfers according to iPM and hospital requirements and local procedures

- Basic or working knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Excellent communication, customer service and people skills and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations and information
- Willing and able to work shift work with flexibility to adapt to short-notice work requirements when required.

- The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement.
