The Ministerial Services and Committees team operates in the Office of the Commissioner.
We are responsible for a range of Ministerial and Parliamentary services, along with administration and secretarial services for nine committees:
- The NSW RFS and Brigades Donations Fund
- Statutory committees:
- Bush Fire Coordinating Committee
- Rural Fire Service Advisory Council and
- Fire Services Joint Standing Committee
- NSW RFS committees:
- Corporate Executive Group
- Audit and Risk Committee
- Local Government Liaison Committee
- BFCC Standing Advisory Sub-committee
- Four RFS/Rural Fire Service Association Consultative Committees
**About the role**:
The major focus of this role is contributing to the administrative and secretariat functions for the nine committees, along with establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders and RFS management, staff and volunteers. You will be reporting to the Manager, Ministerial Services and Committees.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Provide a range of administrative and secretariat services for nine Statutory and RFS Committees, including collating and distributing agendas and business papers, organising meetings and taking minutes, according to set timeframes.
- Undertake records management and maintenance of required registers to ensure records are organised and maintained appropriately in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Identity and triage priorities using established business processes to ensure the appropriate and timely completion of tasks.
- Assist with accounts processing and management according to policies and procedures.
- Undertake required processes to ensure governance obligations are achieved.
**Skills and experience**:
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and an ordered approach to managing committee processes and procedures
- Experience with Ministerials
- Knowledge of SAP, HPE, Coupa and the Microsoft suite would be an advantage
- Previous experience working with boards or committees would be highly valued
**About the organisation**:
- The NSW Rural Fire Service protects the community and our environment by minimising the impact of fire and other emergencies. Our shared vision is to provide a world standard of excellence in the provision of a volunteer-based community fire and emergency service._
- The NSW RFS is established under the Rural Fires Act 1997 and is responsible for preventing and suppressing fires in rural fire districts, as well as being the lead agency for bush fire-fighting across the State._
- For over 100 years the NSW RFS has been a significant part of the history and landscape of NSW and is widely acknowledged as the largest volunteer fire service in the world._
- Fighting fires and protecting the community from emergencies is the most visible aspect of the NSW RFS. The Service also has many responsibilities as the lead agency for bush fire management and mitigation in NSW. Working closely with other agencies, the NSW RFS responds to a range of emergencies including structure fires, motor vehicle accidents and storms that occur within rural fire districts._
