About the role
This role provides dietetic assessment and clinical intervention services for offenders with special dietary needs in Queensland correctional centres within the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service region.
In this role you will;
- Provide dietetic/nutritional assessment and interventions for offenders with special needs diets.
- Provide clinical advice to Prison Health Services nursing and medical staff about the dietary needs of offenders when requested, commensurate with level of experience.
- Liaise with the Food Services Supervisors to ensure the provision of nutritionally adequate diets to offenders with special dietary needs in West Moreton Hospital and Health Services (WMHHS).
- Develop and facilitate nutrition education programs for Prison Health Services staff and offenders, under the clinical practice supervision of a more experienced practitioner.

Prison Health Services (PHS) is a rapidly growing division within the West Moreton Health region, delivering primary health care services to detained, remanded and sentenced prisoners and Young Persons across eight facilities (six Correctional Centres and two Youth Detention Centres).
About you
- Demonstrated experience in dietetic/nutritional assessment and care.
- Demonstrated ability to provide general dietetic advice to key stakeholders regarding service delivery and improvement opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan and evaluate local service improvement initiatives and provide supervision to nutrition and dietetic students, under the guidance of senior clinical staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a health care team, demonstrating a high level of communication skills, flexibility and a co-operative approach.
**Mandatory Requirements**:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
