The Infrastructure Project Management service line is a national growth initiative within RPS’ Project Management Division, which includes over 500 staff nationally. With a presence in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia, the service line covers the transport, energy, water and resources sectors and is comprised of a team of high caliber infrastructure project management professionals, and also includes specialists in the establishment and administration of Project Management Office and Project Controls.
**The role**
The Practice Lead (VIC) is responsible for the development and delivery of the Infrastructure Project Management service in line in Victoria, working in collaboration with RPS group wide and location service line and divisional leadership to achieve operational objectives and targets. This includes developing business, financial management, client service delivery and building and managing the Victorian based team to achieve timely, high quality client outcomes which are profitable for the business.
**Key responsibilities**:
People:
- Foster an effective culture that retains key staff and promotes career development.
- Provide leadership and direction.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, staff performance reviews and termination of staff.
- Oversee HR management initiatives for the including specific training.
- Implement succession planning strategies to cover key positions.
- Ensure that the team has adequate resources and that activities between offices are effectively coordinated.
- Manage employee performance on an on-going basis. This includes completion of regular reviews and/or career development reviews.
- Proactively manage poor performance or conduct issues in consultation with human resources.
- Manage Industrial Relations issues in consultation with human resources.
- Undertake work related training and demonstrate a willingness to pursue self-development for career advancement.

Clients:
- Manage key client relationships and foster a client focused culture.
- Expand the client base by developing new clients, managing proposals and coordinating the office activities.
- Ensure that the offices provide quality service to clients.
- Review profitability and commercial performance of client relationships.
- Seek feedback from clients and review service levels.
- Ensure written client proposals satisfy the requirements of the clients.
Growth:
- Develop business plans that align with RPS AAP’s Strategic Development Plan.
- Assist EGMs to develop, implement and review business plans, marketing strategy and operational plans.
- Manage Change Management processes.
- Identify and win new project opportunities and clients and maintain existing opportunities and clients.
- Participate in marketing and promotional activities.
- Manage the joint office marketing efforts for multi-office projects.
- Represent and promote RPS at seminars and conferences.
- Work in partnership with the broader RPS businesses and embrace the ‘One RPS’ vision.
Performance:
- Manage the team to deliver a bottom-line profit in line with budget. This includes managing productivity, fees, submission/proposals, marketing actions, job overruns, actual expenses, profit, cash flow and committed order book.
- Appoint (if required) and develop a skilled and committed Management and Leadership team.
- Ensure that business unit (BU) activities are coordinated with the activities of the wider RPS AAP Region.
- Provide a monthly report to the EGM on the performance of the BU (standard template) and a monthly Business Improvement Plan for underperforming offices/operations.
- Monitor the technical quality, staff productivity and financial performance of the offices within the BU and take timely action to correct poor performance.
- Assist EGM/GMs to ensure work is monitored and completed within budget.
- Provide direction in the pursuit of technical excellence in all work produced by the BU and RPS.
- Participate in short-range and long-range planning and make independent decisions on technical policies and procedures.
- Develop practical and commercial solutions to problems and take necessary action to expedite the successful accomplishment of projects.
