We have been given the exciting opportunity to source for our client, a large QLD Government Department for the exciting role of Communications and Engagement Manager (AO8). Our client exists to protect the health and safety of the people of Queensland and aim to make a difference to the community.

As Communications and Engagement Manager, you will lead the communications team that is responsible for developing and coordinating stakeholder engagement activities and internal and external communications strategies. This includes communicating with health practitioners and consumers on pre-emptive strategies to reduce and best manage health services complaints.

The role will advise and support all business areas with best practice professional communication service planning and delivery across multiple mediums, in addition to support the Health Ombudsman in the areas of media relations, social media engagement.

**Responsibilities of the role**:

- Lead the development and implementation of an external stakeholder engagement strategy and educational campaigns within Queensland, aimed at improving stakeholder relationships to drive efficiencies and add value to Queensland’s health complaints system.
- Provide expert strategic advice to senior executives and managers on stakeholder engagement status, strategies, media relations, crisis communications, and emerging issues to support strategic decision processes and critical issue responses.
- Build and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships to ensure effective collaboration and engagement to support operational core business and produce quality outcomes.
- Support the Executive Director in preparing Parliamentary submissions and documents, and manage the preparation and publication of the annual report.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Communications policies, procedures, and quality assurance processes to facilitate high quality business operations.
- Lead, coach, and mentor the Communications team and actively participate in the Division Leadership Team.
- Assist the Executive Director with business unit and division performance, operational and risk management planning, and reporting.

- Demonstrated experience in best practice communications, both inward and outward facing, from strategy development through to implementation and evaluation, to drive employee engagement and increase productivity.
- Commitment to working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and demonstrated negotiation, consultation, facilitation, and oral communications skills.
- Demonstrated ability to role model the organisational values and contribute to a positive workplace culture which embraces flexibility, change, and innovation.
- Demonstrated ability in providing strategic communication and engagement advice, and the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate integrated communication strategies that meet the needs of a wide range of audiences.
- The ability to research, write and edit a wide range of documents and communication resources to a high professional standard, including speeches, media releases, promotion copy, articles, web content, and Ministerial correspondence, briefing papers and complex submissions.
- The ability to manage, coordinate and mentor a team in delivering high level, wide-reaching communication projects (campaigns, publications, and events) from inception to completion, ensuring delivery within timeframes and budget.
- The ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and articulate manner, structuring written and oral communication to ensure clarity.

**Qualifications/professional registration/other requirements**
- Experience in engaging and educating diverse community group is highly desirable.
- Interstate travel may be required in this role.
