**About the role**:
This role is perfectly positioned for an experienced **WHS Manager **who focuses on collaborating with peers and business leaders to help drive proactive and industry leading outcomes. Drawing upon your experience as a WHS Leader you will have managed a WHS team across diverse geographical locations ideally working within the civil construction, rail, mining and/or manufacturing industries. With your first-class communication skills you will be able to, both clearly and effectively, communicate to all levels within the business as well as developing strong and effective relationships.

The WHS Manager within Daracon Group plays a critical role in fostering a positive safety culture and ensuring compliance across all businesses within the Group and therefore the WHS Manager must be a strong leader with specialist knowledge of legislation, standards, risk management processes and behavioural based safety.

This opportunity would suit someone with very strong interpersonal skills who demonstrates solid leadership qualities. We are seeking someone with a strong commitment to continual improvement, a positive and professional attitude, and outstanding relationship-building skills.

Reporting directly to the Divisional Manager HSEQT, this role will see you leading a WHS team that supports our Group operations.

**In summary, key **aspects **of this role are as follows:
**_WHS Planning and Implementation _**
- Review, develop, implement and monitor effective WHS objectives and targets for the business which directly address the challenges and context.

**_WHS Leadership and Education _**
- Model best practice WHS leadership by providing specialist advice, practical guidance and support.
- Champion WHS leadership and build strong working relationships with all key stakeholders including internal and external clients, contractors, suppliers and employees.

**_Auditing, Risk and Incident Management _**
- Assist the Systems team to develop and implement a program of WHS / System audits across operations reviewing against the requirements of legislation, company processes and site-specific plans.
- Manage the identification and mitigation of hazards including the reporting and investigation of incidents.
- Ensure workplace WHS improvement initiatives are identified and delivered, leading to improvements in WHS performance.

**_WHS Management System _**
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, including legislation, national and international standards and codes of practice to ensure that these are understood and integrated into the business governance.

**_Reporting & Performance Measurement _**
- Report on monthly WHS performance, opportunities for improvement, targets, objectives and other lead and lag indicators.

**_Health and Wellness _**
- Work with the Health & Wellness team to support working towards injury prevention, management and rehabilitation.

**Skills and experiences should include**:

- Minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar position in a high-risk environment (preferably within the construction / civil / rail / mining space).
- Tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety (will consider substantial industry experience).
- Extensive understanding of WHS and other relevant legislation, practices, and standards.
- Proven experience in developing, maintaining, and continuously improving WHS systems.
- Demonstrated experience in driving continuous improvement and embedding a leading safety culture.
- Proven ability to build rapport with key stakeholders (internal and external), displaying a high level of influence, coaching and mentoring skills.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.

**Desirable but not essential**:

- Internal and/or Lead Auditor.
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE Minimum).
