
Communications and Events Adviser

THE ROLE
The Communications and Events Adviser plays a key role in helping the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) celebrate, support and advocate for multicultural Victorians. Working in the Communications and Events team, you will assist with a range of both communications and events activities.
You will have the creativity and vision to help provide meaningful, memorable and engaging in-person events and online content, coupled with a strong eye for detail and the ability to multi-task, deliver results to tight timeframes and work independently and as part of a team within government processes.
**You will**:
- support delivery of an annual program; the VMC's flagship Cultural Diversity Week, Multicultural Awards for Excellence, Multicultural Honour Roll, Victorian Refugee Awards and Multicultural Film Festival.
- assist in the preparation and implementation of communication plans and promotional campaigns
- support Commissioners by producing or editing video messages, and sometimes, short presentations and speeches
- assist with the content planning and effective management of VMC's digital presence including, website, social media channels and DFFH intranet
- support, or possibly take the lead on, the rebrand and restructure of VMC's website, including roll-out of its new logo
- ensure that the content and production quality of materials are appropriate for VMC's audiences and consistent with VMC's brand, strategic priorities and objectives and, more broadly, the VPS values
- draft and create material such as reports, media releases, publication copy and social media tiles
- support staff to organise and run large and small events and award ceremonies, including liaising with suppliers such as photographers and videographers
- work collaboratively across the team and VMC to deliver integrated communications and events services
- when required, assist with media management and correspondence
- support the leadership team to ensure effective communications and events services, support and resourcing during emergency, crisis and peak periods.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Prepare quality, accurate, timely and audience-appropriate correspondence and communications materials, including online and print content and content for Commissioners.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of communication plans and campaigns to promote the VMC and its programs and events across multiple channels and to diverse audiences.
- Provide support for the management of media and community issues including the preparation of responses or statements for communications channels.
