The Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. The Department is currently recruiting for a WHS Coordinator to join the Safety Systems team who can contribute to delivering WHS coordination across South Australian Prisons and Community Correctional Centres. As part of a larger team, who rely upon rationale, trust, professional judgement and autonomy, you have the opportunity to deliver outstanding direction and operationalise work health and safety within the Department. The work undertaken by the Safety Systems team contributes to rehabilitation through safety in correctional practices and the psychosocial environment across the work place.

**Duties**

The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator is accountable to the Team Leader Safety Systems for: developing, implementing and monitoring of WHS systems, policies and procedures through the development of health and safety plans and initiatives and the provision of appropriate WHS advice and information to staff and Management. The role contributes to corporate WHS initiatives and projects and includes day-to-day coordination and WHS risk management of prison sites and community correctional centres.

**Special Conditions**
- Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.
- The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check;
- A current South Australian Driver’s Licence is essential;
- A flexible approach to working hours is required;
- Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight absences.
- The incumbent is a member of the Corporate Services Directorate and will be required to work at multiple sites.

Essential: Nil required
Desirable: Certificate 4 OHS&W/WHS and/or OHS&W/WHS Internal Auditing Certificate

**Remuneration**

ASO4 ($76,561 - $80,256 pa)
