**About the Role**

As the Manager: Employee Relations you will lead a team of employee relations practitioners in the delivery of a highly valued, credible advisory service that enables the University to achieve its strategic objectives whilst promoting a people first approach to employee relations.

In this highly influential role you will work as part of the People Leadership Team, directly contributing to the development and delivery of strategies that enable the University’s objectives and contribute to the cultivation of a high performing and enterprising culture.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Support major change projects through expert employee relations advice that mitigate people impacts and industrial risks
- Develop close working relationships with key stakeholders and support a consistent and strategic approach to deliver high performance
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the University’s People strategy and People, Talent and Culture (PTC) Unit business planning
- Manage and oversee highly complex cases and dispute resolution and grievance processes including those under the University’s Enterprise Agreement
- Represent the University in meetings and negotiations with unions, the Fair Work Commission and other legal proceedings as required
- Build capability and deliver quality outcomes by working closely with the People, Talent and Culture People Leadership Team and Business Partners and provide coaching and professional guidance in addressing individual and organisational employee relations matters
- Grow and lead a high performing team. Implement effective performance development and management, fostering excellence and delivering quality services

**Essential Skills and Experience**
- At least five years of experience as a senior industrial relations practitioner, with tertiary qualifications in industrial relations, law, management or a related area of expertise
- Experience in leading a high performing team in a large, complex organisation
- Expertise across the breadth of employee relations with a focus on investigations, case management and analytical skills
- A strong track record in advocating matters before the Fair Work Commission and other employment related tribunals
- Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills and excellent written skills
- Ability to effectively work in situations of ambiguity, with the resilience of persistence needed to deal with issues that cannot be immediately or perfectly resolved
- Experience in managing and influencing client relationships at a senior/strategic level and delivering excellent customer service whilst aligning outcomes with the strategic intent of the organisation
