Are you a strategic leader with strong expertise in industrial relations and a passion for public service? The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) is seeking a dynamic Manager – Industrial & Employee Relations to lead and shape our workforce relations strategy.
This pivotal leadership role provides strategic industrial relations advice, advocacy, and support across MFS. You will lead enterprise bargaining negotiations, resolve complex industrial matters, and represent MFS in high-stakes forums including the South Australian Employment Tribunal.
You will also oversee key workforce functions including rostering and return-to-work, and collaborate closely with SAFECOM, unions, and government agencies to ensure operational efficiency, equity, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead industrial relations strategy and enterprise bargaining.
- Advise on legislation, awards, and workforce policies.
- Resolve disputes and manage complex employee relations issues.
- Oversee rostering and return-to-work functions.
Build strong relationships with unions, government, and internal stakeholders.
We are looking for someone with:
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in IR, ER, Law, or HR.
- Proven leadership in complex industrial environments.
- Strong negotiation, advocacy, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in formal industrial proceedings and stakeholder engagement.
