About the role

This will be a 12 month fixed-term role based in Melbourne.

What you’ll be doing
- Lead financial analysis initiatives, focusing on key metrics related to energy pricing, commodity trading, and derivative instruments. Collaborate with the Finance team to develop financial reports and provide actionable insights on financial performance, variances, and trends.
- Make informed decisions based on data analysis, financial models, and market trends to help drive business decisions and improve overall financial performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline and optimize operational processes. Utilize analytical tools to design and propose practical solutions, including coordinating systems integration and ensuring appropriate controls and compliance measures are in place.
- Take responsibility for governance, integrity, and security of financial data and systems, ensuring financial systems and risk management practices comply with industry regulations, internal controls, and best practices.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including Trading, Risk, and IT teams, to ensure alignment on financial processes and risk management strategies.

What you’ll bring to the table
- Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics or a related field.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities with a proven ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Proficiency in data governance and data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or other relevant programming languages.
- Experience presenting information in management reports through data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues quickly.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills including ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Experience within the energy trading industry, including understanding of financial derivatives in hedging strategies to manage market risk (desirable).
