**The Role**
There are several positions available within the Schools Group, Capital Funding section. Reporting to the Director, Capital Funding section, the Assistant Director (Program) will support the Director in policy development and program leadership by performing a range of program, policy, and stakeholder engagement activities. The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting with the leadership and management of the Australian Government’s capital funding programs and policies for schools, including:
- Schools Upgrade Fund (SUF) - Government Schools Capital Funding component.
- Capital Grants Program (CGP) for non-government schools.
- Legacy capital funding programs that relate to school infrastructure.
- Implementation and management of the Government Schools Capital Funding component of the SUF.
- Assisting with management of the CGP.
- Building positive and effective relationships with established and new stakeholders.
- Contributing to quality improvement for the section more broadly.

- Strategic thinking and the ability to understand and evaluate problems and contribute to developing solutions within a demanding program management environment.
- Interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships both internally and with external stakeholders.
- Organisational skills and a commitment to achieving results through taking responsibility for own tasks, being a cooperative member of a team, and managing competing deadlines.
- Initiative and good judgment and the ability to think critically and strategically.
- Proactive and enthusiastic, with the ability to identify risks and emerging issues and take action.
