**About the organisation**
The Royal Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) is the peak body for the architectural profession in Australia, representing more than 13,000 members they are the public voice for architecture.

The Institute is dedicated to improving the built environment and the communities we call home by promoting quality, responsible, sustainable design.

**About the Role**
Reporting to the Board, the CEO works as a strategic partner in collaboration with the National President, Board Chair, National Council, and State and Territory Chapter Councils. The CEO is responsible for strategic development and delivery, and the Institute’s relationship and reputation with members, government officials, customers, partners, business associations and local community representatives.

**About the person**
You are a skilled communicator who brings people together around significant issues to create a catalyst for change. As the key spokesperson for the organisation, you will be visible to members, listening to their concerns and raising awareness of the value the profession brings to the community and industry, through consistent and impactful advocacy.

Commercially astute with a track record of navigating complex stakeholder relationships, you are adept at balancing the internal and external demands of the role. You inspire a sense of purpose and drive a people-driven culture underpinned by trust and respect. Communicating with courage and influence, you promote the professional priorities of members to inform government policy.

To be considered, you will possess:

- Experience with, and reporting directly to a Board
- Representational and advocacy skills to influence and shape government policy
- Business acumen, including strategic planning and financial management
- Track record in leading transformational change
- Highly developed communication and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Collegiate leadership style and proven ability to build organisational culture, lead and inspire people
- An interest and understanding of the political environment and current issues affecting architects
- Relevant tertiary qualification
