**About the organisation**
The Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) is a driving and influential force behind a strong and strategically positioned local government sector. Its purpose is to advocate for local government interests; build the capacity of councils; protect and support the viability of councils; promote the role of local government and deliver insurance and procurement services to the sector.
Victoria’s 79 Councils represent 6.6 million people, employ 50,000 people, have responsibility for over $11 billion in revenue and manage $123 billion of community assets. The MAV now seeks an outstanding Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the MAV through its next phase as the peak body for Victorian local government.

**About the role**
As CEO you will work closely with the MAV Board to achieve positive outcomes for member councils and lead the organisation to deliver on its strategic objectives. You will negotiate with and influence government on their policy framework initiatives and advocate to key stakeholders to deliver the best outcomes for the sector. The CEO is also responsible for oversight of MAV Insurance and MAV Procurement. A trusted adviser to the Board, sector CEO’s and government, you will lead the MAV in embedding a culture of innovation, accountability and strategic thinking, to deliver stronger, more resilient and effective Councils.

**About you**
With CEO or senior executive experience in local government, the public sector or aligned areas, you have successfully led complex multidisciplinary organisations, while reporting to a Council or Board. You thrive on challenge and balancing competing interests in growth focussed, tightly budgeted and regulated environments. Inspiring and emotionally intelligent, you are known for your exceptional integrity, communication skills, influence, people leadership, governance and capacity to lead by example. A visible leader and politically astute, you demonstrate sound judgement and naturally align values and outcomes for success. You are motivated by the success of others and the sector as a whole.
