Cleaning Supervisor, Grade 3

**Position Information**:

**About the Role**

To be successful in the role you will need to have proficient skills to supervise a small group of staff responsible for providing effective and efficient housekeeping and cleaning services at a boarding school, including dormitories, offices and general overnight accommodation areas. Within this role, you will work independently and within a team environment.

You will perform a range of tasks including, report any damage to dormitories, undertake regular inspections of unused dormitory and general overnight accommodation areas. You will supervise stock control tasks and oversee the supervision and training of staff. This will include preparing duty rosters and allocating duties. You will monitor compliance with health and safety guidelines and procedures.

Rostered weekend shifts are required and possible occasional weekday overtime. Attention to detail, ability to push and use a cleaning trolley, along with ability to traverse building levels and stairs will be required

**About the NSW Department of Education**

**Additional Information**
Hurlstone Agricultural High School (HAHS) is the only NSW government coeducational selective agricultural High School with boarding facility and large school farm. There are currently 967 students enrolled, with a boarding facility that can accommodate at least 180 students, and a large multi-enterprise farm. As a boarding school, we offer housekeeping and cleaning services to our boarder community.

HAHS sits on 159 hectares, sharing educational land with four other departmental entities. Most of the land is used for farming. It is five minutes from the M5 entry/exit and 250m adjacent the Glenfield rail station. It borders the Hume Highway M5 on the western side, residential homes on the north farm boundary, and adjoins the NSW Transport boundary on the eastern and southern sides.

Both our boarding facility and farm have been upgraded under a major capital works project, and planned to be commissioned for operations mid 2024.

Provide an example how you assess, and undertake necessary actions to ensure dormitory rooms (or equivalent), overnight duty rooms (or equivalent), dormitory toilets and/or showers (or equivalent) are serviced and available for boarders and overnight staff before the start of boarding facility operating hours. Detail the areas of focus, any foreseeable challenges, how you would overcome these to ensure areas are presented appropriately and available for use. (max 300 words).
