School Incursion Teacher

**Incursion Instructor** (Casual)

Do you love teaching primary school kids but want something different to a traditional classroom teacher role?

We're looking for an enthusiastic presenter to join our team as an incursions instructor.

You will present fun, interactive incursions to primary school students throughout Melbourne on topics including democracy, science, economics and more. Don't worry if you don't know the content of our incursions, because full training will be provided.

Students love our hands-on, activity-filled incursions and your visit to their school will be the highlight of their week We provide all the resources and equipment for you to take into the classroom to run up to three 90 minute sessions per day. A typical week for you could include conducting a mock election with grade 6s one day, building Lego cars with grade 3s the next, then operating a marketplace to demonstrate supply and demand for grade 5s after that. You’ll teach students of all primary school year levels, from all backgrounds and areas across Melbourne.

Your schedule will be organised well in advance, and some days you’ll even get an early finish, allowing you to enjoy an excellent work-life balance. No reports, no staff meetings, no yard duty. Just teaching fun programs to students.

We’re offering this role on a casual basis, with breaks over all school holidays. We expect enough work for 3 days a week initially.

Travel throughout the Melbourne metropolitan area will be required for this role. We travel to the West, East, North and South of Melbourne, and we usually need to be at schools at 8:00 AM to set up. Please consider this when applying.

**Experience and abilities required**
- Primary school classroom teaching experience (preferred).
- Excellent verbal communication with the ability to present to groups of up to 35 children.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work well independently.
- An enthusiastic and friendly presentation style.
- Current teacher registration or Working With Children Check.
- Ability to store incursion equipment at home (Just a few boxes)
- Ability to travel to various locations across the Melbourne metropolitan area. Our instructors travel throughout Melbourne. Please consider this when applying.
- Your own transport will be required for this role. Some travel compensation is included in the remuneration package.

Teachers use our incursions to deeper explore a unit of inquiry, and each session is underpinned by explicit curriculum links to ensure students gain strong educational benefits. Our incursions are extremely fun for students, with hands-on resources including puzzles, building materials and costumes. Currently, our incursion topics include democracy, immigration, science, economics and more.
