The Opportunity:
The primary responsibilities of this role will include stakeholder engagement, helping define requirements, driving design, development and implementation of a fit-for-purpose BI and analytics solutions, also taking ownership of BI and analytics platform to ensuring availability and stability.
The Technical Delivery lead - BI and Analytics will also be responsible for leading and mentoring team members (both onshore and offshore) while promoting a high performing and collaborative environment.
This role reports into the Head of Data Platforms and Analytics can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne.
- Partnering closely with Business stakeholders and BI and analytics teams within business and provide input to define comprehensive BI and analytics solutions, that offer actionable insights to all levels of the organization, ensuring alignment of business intelligence efforts with business priorities
- Designing and lead development of BI and analytics solutions and underlying data reporting layer
- Taking full responsibility for delivery of fit-for-purpose BI and analytics solutions, by working closely with Project Managers - providing inputs on technical tasks required, estimations and overseeing release management processes to ensure successful project implementation
- Establishing templates, standards, and guidelines for report developers in both IT and business units
- Drive consistency in reporting practices and enable data democratisation through self-service BI for business users
- Taking responsibility for the maintenance and stability of the reporting and analytics environment. Lead the resolution of operational issues and ensure the platform's reliability
- Partner with fellow IT stakeholders like Technical Delivery Lead - Data, Data Engineering Lead and Architecture team for development of BI and analytics solution
- Leading and mentoring a team of Business Intelligence Analysts (on-shore and offshore) in development of best practice in business intelligence and analytics
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Extensive previous experience managing delivery and operation of BI and analytics platforms and services, preferably in insurance or financial industry
- Deep understanding of BI tools like Power BI and Tableau, Data visualization practices, and underlying data engineering and modelling to support reporting data layer preferably in Databricks or similar
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing Business intelligence team
- Migration experience from Cognos and Tableau to Power BI will be highly regarded
