What is the role?

The core focus of SHIELD within the AFP is to deliver holistic health services to support the physical and mental health of all AFP personnel whilst identifying and minimising the risk of injury and harm to them and their families. SHIELD improves the way the AFP protects and supports the health and wellbeing of personnel with targeted prevention strategies and programs to address the stressors and threats associated with policing. SHIELD propels the AFP to a preventative, forward leaning, and face-to-face health service delivery in support of enhancing operational performance.

As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

As a Team Leader SHIELD Procurement & Contract Management you will be pivotal in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that cultivates a culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of individuals. Leveraging off your Commonwealth procurement experience, you will drive innovative and flexible procurement outcomes that are required to enable SHIELD service delivery both now and into the future.

This position requires a highly a motivated individual who is able to work effectively in a busy and demanding environment. Role responsibilities are delivered consistently to AFP Band 7 Work Level Standards. Please note this role is located in Canberra, ACT.

Role Responsibilities

The Team Leader, SHIELD Procurement & Contracts leads a team who is responsible for a variety of procurement, contracting and project management functions. The role requires a highly motivated individual who is able to work effectively in a busy and demanding environment.

**The role requires**:
Deliver procurement compliance and advisory services for complex procurement activities in line with relevant Commonwealth procurement legislative frameworks, rules and guidance
Develop and review AFP procurement documentation.
Maintain currency with relevant Commonwealth procurement legislative frameworks, rules and guidance.
Actively maintain SHIELD procurement governance, practices and related documentation in line with legislative changes and policy.
Demonstrated ability to manage the key elements of the development, delivery and implementation of SHIELD’s contract procurement and management plan, including accountability for time, cost and quality outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships based on trust and respect to influence professional practices.
Sound negotiation, risk management and decision making skills.
Essential Requirements

You must be an Australian Citizen.
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise.
