**The Role**
The Executive Level 1 Project Adviser is responsible for supporting Project Office processes and functions to improve the maturity of the department’s project-based delivery. The Project Adviser is responsible for providing assistance and guidance to the department’s Senior Responsible Officers and project teams in using proper management and oversight practices.

The Project Advisor will work alongside the Director, Project Office, to ensure that the department’s Executive and governance forums get accurate reports on the status, development, problems, and risks of each project, to monitor the portfolio's performance effectively.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Duties of the Project Advisor may include the following:

- Ensuring consistent use of project management practices, processes and tools that help and enable the successful completion of projects.
- Overseeing project reporting under the Project Management Framework to give a portfolio view of project activity.
- Leading analysis of project reporting to inform a portfolio view, and identifying relevant issues that need attention.
- Providing secretariat support for the ICT Committee, and Project and Investment Committee, ensuring processes are effective and meet the needs of committee members.
- Overseeing internal communications material to keep the department updated on changes to the project management processes, framework and support functions available.
- Building collaborative and supportive relationships with Senior Responsible Officers, Project Managers and other stakeholders; providing coaching, training, and support to improve the department’s project and program management capability.
- Developing a view of project practice management health to ensure that information about project deliverables, risks and issues is of a suitable quality.
