About the role
Working within our Humanitarian Settlement Program, the Assistant Support Workers are integral members of our Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) team, bringing cultural knowledge and fluency to support newly arrived humanitarian entrants to settle and orientate to life in Australia. The role is responsible for providing information, education, and practical support services to HSP clients, maintaining client data and various administrative tasks.
As part of a collaborative team, Assistant Support Workers work closely with Case Managers and other Red Cross staff to assist clients in achieving their outcomes.
Fluency in Arabic, Dari, Chin, Karen and Tigrinya is essential for this role
About you
**You will demonstrate**:
- Communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Fluency in Arabic, Dari, Chin, Karen and Tigrinya
- Understanding of the refugee and asylum seeker service needs
- Demonstrated cultural competence and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work under general guidance from senior employees and able to collaborate with the team to complete delegated tasks
- Basic records management and general office administration
- Basic proficiency in MS Office or similar software and experience using databases
- Experience in community services and working with staff and clients from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds with respect and humility is desirable
- Lived experience of migration or forced displacement is desirable

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 2. $33.42 per hour + casual loading + superannuation + access to salary packaging options.
