Payroll Operations Manager

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced and passionate Payroll Operations Manager to lead the Payroll Operations Team and drive exciting payroll centric projects across MFG. Our Payroll function is undergoing some pivotal growth which is harnessed by the commitment, investment, and support of the C - Level Executive team at MFG. We are looking for a Payroll professional ideally from the retail sector who can drive engagement within the business.

**Manage our amazing Payroll Team**:
- Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role will be hands-on, responsible for leading a team of 4 to ensure timely and accurate end-to-end processing of pay runs across our Retail, Distribution Centre and Corporate business units
- You will drive some exciting projects around compliance, whilst contributing to our newly established Payroll Governance, Risk and Compliance Framework
- You will have a continuous improvement mindset, always seeking ways to enhance the customer and internal Team Member experience
- We use Ceridian Preceda and Humanforce (Although these are not essential)
**Operational/Statutory**:
- At an operational level you will ensure the Group meets all its obligations with the ATO, SRO's and applicable awards
- Supervise the maintenance of the employee master file, approve calculations, complete pay run reconciliations and support out-of-system processes
- Process month and year-end, including period close, issuing Income Statements, calculate and lodge Payroll Tax and Super, and calculate WorkCover actuals and estimates
- Work closely with our Accounting Team to reconcile and balance all Payroll related general ledger accounts
- Keep abreast of industry trends and best practice, ensure the Payroll Operations Team maintains an understanding of regulatory and legislative changes as they occur
- Develop and review our payroll processes to ensure they are growing with the Group
- Lead our annual PwC Audit
More About You
- You will have proven experience as a Payroll Manager, leading a high-performing team
- With over 2500 employees you will have come from a large scale, complex payroll
- You are looking for your next role to include interesting and challenging projects, a company who is invested in the success and improvement of the payroll function and a collaborative team to work with
- You will have experience working with retail and other award and legislation interpretation
- You will have a high sense of urgency balanced with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal, at all levels within the Group
- As a Payroll Manager you will be able to demonstrate thorough knowledge and understanding of LSL, WorkCover, PAYG, Payroll Tax and Superannuation legislation
- Retail experience is preferred but not essential; and
- Experience with Preceda and HumanForce is advantageous.
