**About the Role**

Black Star Pastry is going from strength to strength and we are soon to open our brand new CBD store, located in one of Melbourne’s iconic laneways.

Our new store will showcase Black Star Pastry's innovative style whilst still honouring the heritage features of an historic CBD location.

On offer will be the full range of Black Star Pastry’s signature cakes, together with some fresh products created especially for this store, and of course first-class coffee from our partner St Ali.

With this we have a need for experienced Baristas to bring their energy and passion for coffee as we build a dynamic new team of hospitality professionals.

This is a rare opportunity to come on board pre-opening to play a key part in the planning/setup process as well as enjoy all the excitement of the launch.

We have casual or permanent full-time opportunities available. With the permanent opportunity offering stability and a salary of
- **$56,300.00 ($28.49 per hour) + Superannuation + $20 p/w transport allowance = $63,251 total salary package.**

Full training will be provided at our Chadstone and St Kilda stores.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Have a thorough knowledge of all product offerings, in order to be able to accurately advise
- Prepare and present all beverages including coffee according to service standards.
- Have an accurate knowledge of coffee blend, origin and equipment.
- Maintain accurate knowledge of all food and beverage prices.
- Use all equipment with care and ensure all equipment is maintained and in good working condition.
- Confidently make food and beverage recommendations to customers.
- Responsible for pre-service preparation.
- Attend to all customer requests immediately.
- Polish all silverware, glassware and cutlery.
- Provide all customers with efficient and friendly service, fulfilling needs and ensuring standard of service is always maintained.
- Monitor and take action to ensure quality of beverage and service standards are met.

**About You**
- Experienced in fast paced Barista role.
- Barista / coffee making qualification.
- Passionate about hospitality service, and product quality.
- Capability to connect with customers and provide a high level of service.
- Demonstrated capability to multi-task.
- Exceptional verbal communication skills.
- Positive ambassador of the BSP brand.
- Authentic and down to earth with a genuine love of people
- Love of cake a bonus

**About the Business**

Black Star Pastry opened its first boutique patisserie in Newtown in 2008 and since then we have grown into an institution with stores across Sydney and Melbourne including our flagship store at Chadstone.

We are most famous for our Strawberry Watermelon Cake which has become a social media sensation, with the New York Times declaring it “the world’s most instagrammed cake.”
