**Your new company**
Based in the heart of Canberra this Federal Government department is actively seeking a high performing APS6 Policy Officer to join their division. This exciting team drives the strategic direction of integrity, including responsibility for performance measurement, governance, legislative reform, and new integrity projects.
**Your new role**
Reporting to the Assistant Director, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and implementation of the Financial Integrity Strategy. Your duties could include but are not limited to:
- Maintain a well-developed understanding of relevant policies, frameworks, and research, with a particular focus on integrity and learning
- Draft, prepare, review, and disseminate a range of documents, including briefings for Ministers and senior executives, and to convey complex ideas with clarity
- Contribute to Cabinet processes including the development of new policy proposals and reviewing and responding to related whole-of-government policy initiatives as required
- Manage the governance forum and branch budget, undertake procurement activities and manage contracts and projects
- Staff supervision
**What you'll need to succeed**
Drawing upon your extensive background in the Federal Government, your expertise will position you for success. Your demonstrated ability in the following areas will be looked upon highly:
- Strong strategic policy skills and the ability to understand and distil problems to develop solutions within a demanding policy environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships both within and beyond the department
- Organisational skills and a commitment to achieving results through taking responsibility for own tasks, being a cooperative member of a team, supervising staff and successfully managing competing deadlines
- Initiative and good judgement and the ability to think critically and strategically, particularly in a sensitive, changeable environment
- Identify broader factors and trends that may impact on the team’s objectives and the longer-term impacts of the work area
