**About the Position**:
We are seeking a highly motivated, qualified and experienced individual to work in the Horticultural Services Department as part of the Parks and Gardens team. You will be responsible for the upkeep of the council's parks, gardens, open space reserves and other horticultural assets within the municipality.
**The role includes**:
Maintaining a range of parks and reserves using sound horticultural skills including but not exclusive to: grass maintenance, garden bed maintenance, weed control, tree care and planting.
Operation and maintenance of horticultural plant and equipment including trucks, ride on mowers, small plant and pesticide spraying equipment.
Working cooperatively with team members, stakeholders and contractors.
Ensuring fulfillment of organisational obligations under the OHS Act, and relevant Council policies and procedures.
**About You**:
Highly motivated, approachable, flexible, team player, who is hardworking with a passion for horticulture and enjoys working in an ever-changing environment.
Certificate III in Horticulture (Parks and Gardens) or substantial relevant experience
Experience in the use of grass cutting and garden maintenance plant and equipment
Plant/weed identification skills
Commitment to occupational health and safety and quality control processes
Able to work to agreed targets within a team environment
Able to accurately record and report on daily work programs
Good customer service and communication skills
Current MR Victorian Truck Licence - or willingness to obtain with first 6 months of successful appointment
**Requirement of the position**:
Farm Chemical User Course - with ACUP preferable;
Train track awareness course to be completed upon commencement;
Traffic management training;
Satisfactory National Police Check; and
Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements
