Business Research Engagement Manager

**About the Team** The Business Research Engagement team develops and supports new opportunities to collaborate in research with industry and government, and deliver impact through the translation of research outcomes into practical use.
**About the Role** The role operates within the Business Research Engagement Team of the Research Office and supports the identification, development and securing of new research engagements with industry, governments and other clients, with a focus on larger-scale multi-party ventures. This supports the UTS Research Strategy and the UTS Vision to be a world leading university of technology, renowned for research which is at the cutting edge of creativity and technology.
- Lead teams across UTS to prepare large funding proposals/bids for major research initiatives such as Centres, major initiatives, large research consortia and multi-party ventures.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of industry engagement strategies and programs to ensure the active engagement of businesses, government and community groups in developing and funding collaborative and contract research projects.
- Plan, assist, conduct and/or facilitate relationship meetings with government organisations and SME to larger organisations with the aim of concluding funding agreements addressing pricing, costing, intellectual property arrangements, project milestones and deliverables.
- Assist with the management and implementation of international research collaborations with other universities research institutes, government agencies and business.

**In addition, at the higher level**:

- Initiate and lead the development and implementation of industry engagement strategies and programs that significantly increases the active engagement of businesses, government and community groups in developing and funding collaborative and contract research projects
- Initiate, design and lead activities to secure funding for major research initiatives such as Centres, major initiatives, large research consortia and multi-party ventures, irrespective of the funding sources.

- Strong stakeholder and relationship management both internally and externally
- Well?developed marketing/sales/business development skills including proposal writing, networking, influencing, and negotiating agreements
- Strong people skills and the ability to interact successfully with people ranging from individual researchers to senior executives in the public and private sector
- Sound analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills, including the capacity to form and justify recommendations, strategies, and initiatives
- Ability to manage and prioritise a large and diverse workload, and work well under pressure with concurrent deadlines
- Exposure to licensing and/or contract research agreements
- Desirable: understanding and contacts, from a research perspective, within one or more of the following target industry sectors identified for this vacancy: Health & Medical; Energy & Sustainability, and/or; Manufacturing.

**Remuneration & Benefits**
**Base Salary Range: $113,282 to $138,457 pa (HEW 8-9 broadbanded)** This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension)
**in addition** to the base salary. UTS staff also benefit from a wide range of Employee Benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities. This position is
**full-time** and appointment will be made on a
**continuing basis**. The team operate on a hybrid working arrangement.
