Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation. Health Information Services (HIS) consists of Medical Record Operations and Casemix Services and has approximately 95 EFT located over three sites. Amongst its functions, HIS provides medical record scanning, retrieval, medical typing, morbidity data collection, release of patient information including Freedom of Information and is a resource centre for and Activity Based funding information.

**Your new role**:
The Casemix Department is currently recruiting qualified and experienced Health Information Managers / Clinical Coders. This is an exciting opportunity for motivated Health Information Managers / Clinicals Coders who are ready to take the next step in their career and work in a challenging yet rewarding environment. You will be responsible for abstracting and coding inpatient episodes with varying complexity and participating in coding quality activities. You will be part of a friendly, professional and dynamic team who thrive in a challenging environment. You will be supported by a team of Senior Health Information Managers including educators and auditors, and the Coding Manager. **About you**:
As well as a qualification in Health Information Management or Clinical Coding, you have:

- At least one years’ experience in a coding role at a tertiary hospital
- Excellent clinical coding skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of State and National Coding Standards and Diagnostic Related Groups (DRGs)
- Understanding of the Victorian Admitted Episodes Dataset (VAED), the Policy and Funding Guidelines and the VAED Criteria for Reporting
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as member of a large team
