As part of our Actuarial & Analytics team your role will be to provide insightful analysis of claims/portfolio experience and other factors that drive financial performance and outcomes across the full range of EML’s business activities.

This includes pricing, capital modelling, assisting financial reporting and forecasting of outcomes, profitability, and resourcing requirements; input to underwriting, and identification of factors impacting claims and recovery outcomes. The role also involves contributing to business development, providing education to EML’s clients and staff, and liaison with our clients’ actuarial advisors.

Success in the role requires developing a detailed understanding of the data structures that EML has access to, as well as how to extract and organise those for analytic purposes to combine with operational insights developed in collaboration with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

This will be a permanent, full time position based in the Sydney office, with flexibility to work from home.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provision of incisive analysis and recommendations to assist in competitive pricing and improve claims management processes and performance.
- Providing support in the financial reporting and forecasting of outcomes processes.
- Development and maintenance of analysis to investigate development patterns and trends indicative of the performance health of schemes.
- Development of analysis and reporting to support the contractual specifications associated with new business and contract renewals.
- Input into negotiation of contractual specifications of claim performance and remuneration outcomes.
- Maintenance and enhancement of reporting tools for the operational business units

ABOUT YOU
- Near or fully qualified Actuary (FIAA/FIA/FSA)
- 3-5 years’ experience in a general insurance or an actuarial consulting setting.
- Knowledge of general insurance valuation, pricing & analysis techniques, capital modelling and accounting standards (desirable)
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated hands on experience in SAS/SQL & Excel (R desirable)
- University degree focusing on Actuarial, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Econometrics or Engineering.
