SA Water is owned by the South Australian Government and provides water and wastewater services to more than 1.7 million South Australian customers. Every day, they help build a sustainable and healthy South Australia through reliable and trusted water services. With a commitment to zero net emissions by 2030, SA Water is guided by environmental goals and practices as they transform the supply of water and enhance the role of water utilities in today’s community. The role of General Manager Customer, Community and Engagement is an external facing role to drive customer growth and build brand reputation to ensure a strong customer experience.

Reporting to the Chief Executive and forming part of the leadership team, you will lead a team of 6 direct reports and 300 staff across customer care, customer growth, account billing, community and stakeholder engagement, media communications and customer experience. Working collaboratively with government, major customers, community groups, professional bodies and a broad range of stakeholders, you will develop and implement strategic customer plans to ensure customer needs are met and to drive more efficient practices. A continual focus on an effective brand and communications strategy, you will build a positive perception of SA Water and provide a credible voice for the organisation.

A seasoned executive with broad experiences, your ability to engage and inspire will be second to none, further raising the profile and credibility of the organisation. Bringing experience across the areas of customer experience, community, government relations, or communications will be an asset, while your ability to lead and build capability of diverse teams is essential. Your strategic and forward-thinking ability will contribute to robust discussions at the executive table, and the long-term success of SA Water. A natural strategic communicator, this will be your strongest asset, which will enable you to quickly gain respect and build effective stakeholder relationships. With a tertiary qualification in business, management, commerce (or similar), it is highly desirable that you understand utilities, energy or infrastructure sectors, and have well-developed skills in strategy development and implementation.
