**About the role**

The Water Unit works with a network of local Public Health Units across the state. The Water Unit is responsible for public health regulation, policies and programs relating to drinking water, fluoridation, water recycling, recreational waters, swimming pools and spa pools.
Health Manager level 2, starting salary from $109,857 - $129,624 plus Super, with a 38 hour work week.
**What you will do**
You will:
- contribute to strategies and policies to protect public health and support the provision of safe drinking water by more than 80 public water utilities.
- support programs to maintain and increase the access to fluoridated drinking water in NSW.
- support Public Health Units and water suppliers to develop and implement risk-based drinking water management and support NSW Health response to water incidents
- provide public health advice on a range of water-related issues, including drinking water, fluoridation, wastewater recycling, effluent disposal, recreational water and swimming pools
- support NSW Health's relationship with regulatory organisations, industry bodies, water utilities and laboratories
- contribute to advice for the Chief Health Officer, Minister, Public Health Units, regulators, local councils, the water industry and the community in relation to water quality and public health, and represent NSW Health at inter-agency meetings.
**About you**
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Knowledge of water quality and health, including issues relating to drinking water, fluoridation, recycled water, recreational water and swimming pools and spa pools.
- Proven experience in working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including Public Health Units, laboratories, Government agencies, water utilities, local government and/or Aboriginal communities.
- Good oral and written communication skills, including capacity to prepare high quality reports, briefings and correspondence and the ability to effectively represent NSW Health at interagency meetings.
- Capacity to work with mínimal supervision and to undertake a diverse range of tasks, and work to meet tight deadlines.
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in public health, environmental health, engineering, chemistry, microbiology or other relevant science discipline.
