**About the role**:
The Head of Asset Operations will lead an engineering services team to oversee a long-term risk-based asset management plan aligned to underpin Future Energy growth across its deployed assets including EV chargers (DC and AC), energy storage assets (battery), generation assets (PV solar), hydrogen storage and distribution with mechanical equipment that complies with Australian standards.
You will report to the Chief Operating Office of Ampol’s Future Energy division as your direct manager and senior stakeholders will include GM Energy and GM Hydrogen. You will work closely with the Heads of eMobility, Generation, Retail, Wholesale, Head of Technology, Projects team, Operational, Risk and Safety leaders on key areas of interface across Future Energy, Fuels and Infrastructure and Convenience Retail.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in either Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Lead the maintenance of Future Energy assets and allocation of maintenance services to ensure safe and reliable assets across the network****:
- Develop business plans and budgets for asset maintenance and reliability that achieve short and long-term business goals
- Oversee and approve the distribution of resources (operating and capital expenditures)
- Establish a maintenance model including the assessment of insource and outsource decisions to appropriately support Future Energy asset deployment nationally
- Build systems to effectively monitor and control work performed and report on asset availability, cost, quality and productivity
- Provide regular reporting to functional leaders in eMobility, Generation, Energy Retail, Hydrogen on maintenance activities and emerging issues to ensure timely assessment of critical risk response activities
- Ensure compliance to national standards for the Future Energy assets, be responsible for personal safety of those interacting with these assets and be aware of legislative, regulatory and policy requirements relevant to these assets
**About you**:
You will have a tertiary qualification in an applicable Science or Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical preferred) discipline or demonstrated equivalent knowledge.
8+ years of experience and industry technical knowledge across electricity assets, building and leading asset management teams for electricity, petrochemical or other heavy asset industry operations across maintenance, reliability and asset operations.
**Key skills and experience**:
- Proven track record in safety leadership and improvement across energy assets (electricity, petrochemical or other applicable industries)
- Able to manage and navigate ambiguity, complexity and uncertainty, utilising structured problem-solving techniques
- The ability to conceptualise, develop and implement systems for asset operations in a dynamic environment
- Leadership skills in driving and delivering opportunities including effectively implementing change
- Effectively engages and influences business leaders and key stakeholders to create buy-in and acceptance to new process, systems and initiatives
- Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills including the capacity to relate and listen effectively to senior executives and key stakeholders
- Project management capabilities, driven self-starter who delivers results
- Strong relationship building, networking skills, negotiating skills
- Understanding of risk management protocols and compliance requirements for energy assets
- Commercial and financial acumen, strategic procurement and contracting
- Change management methodologies and experience in business process build
